OUR STATEMENT

Raised in the far south of Chile, Ara developed a unique attention to light and form. Her collections evoke the vivid colors of endless summer, while also embracing the stark contrast of dark winters, often referencing and returning to the textures of the seaside and mountains of her childhood.

ARA JWLS is a Chilean design brand dedicated to handmade jewelry based in Santiago, Chile. It was founded by Josefina Lagos in 2015

Ara means altar. A space that symbolizes the solemnity
of the craft, of handmade work, and the times it involves. Through our designs, we seek to accentuate the elegance of the noble materials we work with, and thus turn them into eternal amulets of personal value for everyday use.

STATEMENT

Founded and directed by Josefina Lagos in 2018, ARA JWLS is a Chilean design brand that is dedicated to making artisanal jewelry with an experimental and collaborative approach.

Ara means altar. A space that symbolizes the solemnity of the trade, of the work done by hand, and the times that it entails. Through our designs, we seek to accentuate the elegance of the noble materials with which we work, and thus turn them into eternal amulets of personal value for daily use.

We value and respect the knowledge and dedicated practice of wise people in the craft of metalsmithing, which allows us to create pieces that embody the wonder of transforming metals, stones and minerals into beautiful and subtle objects. Through the creation of each of our jewels, ARA seeks to make visible, strengthen and give value to local artisanal manufacturing, in particular, the craft of goldsmithing, an art that runs the risk of being lost in the face of the speed of our era. .
